Primitive Man

Chapter 148: Turning point III - My dream

"Baktou, we should pour more on him. We can\'t allow this creature to enter our village!"

Everyone nodded their heads, agreeing with each other\'s sentiments. However, Garnt was looking at Amel with anger in his eyes, following Amel\'s gaze. What he witnessed next was Kali standing on the other side of the wall, observing the battle. Next to her was the unconscious Telvi.

"Damn it! So my suspicions were right?" He quickly got ready to leave and confront Kali, but then he looked at Baktou and talked about what he witnessed. He wanted her boyfriend to know about it before him.

Baktou looked like he was trying to make the hardest decision of his life. Should he choose his girlfriend over the battle? Should he allow Garnt to take control of his men?

\'But I know the weaknesses and strengths of my people like Garnt know about his own village. Can Garnt really lead my people without making any mistakes?\'

Baktou hesitated, torn between the loyalty to his people and the concern for Telvi. His gaze shifted between the battle-hardened Moga, who was relentlessly attacking the village entrance, and Garnt, who seemed determined to confront Kali.

"Garnt, what do I do?" Baktou asked, his voice filled with uncertainty.

Garnt placed a firm hand on Baktou\'s shoulder and looked him in the eyes. "Leave Telvi to me. I promise I won\'t let any harm come to her. You focus on defending our people. I\'ll handle Kali."

Baktou nodded, a mix of gratitude and concern etched on his face. "Brother, I trust you! Leave it to me, I will show you how much I improved over time."

With a reassuring pat on Baktou\'s back, Garnt rushed towards the other side of the village after getting on his beloved stead Huta. Baktou took a deep breath and turned his attention back to the impending threat. Moga\'s relentless assault was causing larger cracks to form on the once-sturdy wall.

"Arm yourselves!" Baktou commanded his men. "Prepare for another round. We can\'t let Moga breach our defences and enter the place where our children and women are hiding."

As the villagers scrambled to equip themselves for the next wave of attacks, Baktou took hold of his newly forged metal spear. The weapon gleamed in the dim light, its sharp tip hinting at its lethal capabilities. Baktou\'s eyes narrowed with determination as he assessed the cracks in the village wall.

"Hold the line!" he shouted to his men. "We can\'t let him breakthrough. For our village! For our patriarch!"

His war cry resonated around the battlefield causing others to follow his example and shout, and soon the cracks on the wall got bigger and it exploded revealing the disfigured look of Moga.

"Grrrrrrrrr! Grrrrrrrr! Graaaaaant!" As soon as he broke the wall, he shouted like a wild animal seeking revenge, and the first thing that came out of his mouth was none other than Garnt\'s name.

Baktou\'s eyes locked onto Moga, the disfigured creature that seemed to emanate a palpable sense of malice. The village air buzzed with tension as the villagers tightened their grips on their weapons, ready for the impending clash.

"Moga, Garnt is not the only opponent you have to face," Baktou declared, his voice cutting through the air. "Garnt entrusted me with this village, and I won\'t let you destroy what we worked so hard to build. So come, I will show you why you should know the name called Baktou."

Moga, seemingly oblivious to reason, charged forward with a guttural roar. The villagers, determined but wary, thrust their spears at the approaching menace. Moga, however, seemed impervious to the barrage, enduring each impalement with a relentless advance.

"Stay focused! Don\'t let him get through!" Baktou bellowed, his eyes darting between the battlefield and the disintegrating village wall. "He truly is like a mad man. I can\'t imagine how someone could get like this,"

Despite the barrage of spears, Moga neared dangerously close. Baktou gritted his teeth, recognizing the strength in Moga\'s rampage. "He might be the only real threat to Garnt," he muttered to himself, realizing the urgency of the situation.

Baktou raised his newly forged metal spear, its gleaming tip catching the sunlight. With a swift and practised motion, he began rotating the spear, creating a lethal vortex of steel. "This is a new technique I\'ve developed. Anything that gets close will be cut off!" he announced, his voice resolute.

"Garnt just taught me the basics and I developed it myself, so be impressed when I kill you with this and if you want you can be proud because you\'re going to be the first human that I kill with this,"

As Moga closed in, Baktou lunged forward, aiming for a decisive strike. The villagers followed suit, thrusting their weapons toward the disfigured foe. Despite their efforts, Moga\'s twisted form managed to endure the onslaught, getting dangerously close to Baktou.

"Gaaaarnt!" Moga shouted and was about to grab Baktou, but in a sudden twist, Baktou managed to sever Moga\'s hand completely. It fell to the ground, and Baktou sighed, disappointment etched on his face. "I was aiming for the head," he admitted, realizing that Moga had used his hand to guard his neck. "Well whatever, next time it will be your head."

The villagers, now seeing a potential weakness, renewed their attacks. Moga, blood spraying from the severed limb, seemed momentarily disoriented. Baktou seized the opportunity, a confident smile playing on his lips.

"Today marks the end of Moga and Garnt\'s enemies," Baktou declared, his spear whirling with deadly precision. He struck with a ferocity that seemed to defy the chaotic nature of the battle. The rotational speed of his weapon became a deadly dance, and Moga, unable to defend himself, succumbed to the onslaught.

"The first mistake you made was attacking us all alone, and the second mistake was attacking us. Repent for your sins in the place called hell that Garnt taught us about. Soon, I will send all your underlings there, so you don\'t have to worry."

Baktou gave his final warning, and for a moment, his mind went toward Garnt and Telvi, but he quickly shook his head, knowing Baktou was his target right now, and he should believe in Garnt to rescue his beloved.

Kali sat on the edge of the wall, a smile gracing her face as she revelled in the excitement of being so close to her beloved person.

"Those were the days. I never thought I would meet her in such a wretched place like that lab," she reminisced with a chuckle. "I still remember how much I hated her when I first met her just because of how talented she was.

"Kalina, do this and do that. She always used to order me like she wasn\'t even trying to acknowledge the danger of what we were doing in that laboratory, but I knew after some time, that she was more human than any of us. Secretly trying to help the children who came into the laboratory and treating those test subjects like they were human." She again smiled, as she realized how inhuman she was.

"I guess we all become insensitive to violence after some time as long as it fits our justification. If it were a child I knew, I would probably do the same and feel pity, but-"

She paused without going too far and looked at the woman who was unconsciously lying next to her. This woman was none other than Telvi who got hit by Kalin on her head.

"I loved you because you never lost your humanity despite doing far more heinous things than us. Maybe that\'s why I still cling to you like a leech. After all, all of us in that lab were psychopaths with the skill to bring humanity to its end. It\'s to satisfy my own selfish desire, but I don\'t really care about it as long as I can be by your side, my beloved professor, Erika Schneider."

Kali was having her own monologue and feeling of nostalgia looking at the bloodbath happening beneath her, but then she heard some gallop sounds getting close to her and she knew it was none other than her target Garnt, who should be the host of his beloved.

"Haha! So you came. I really thought Baktou would come but it looks like you care about this woman more than her. You horny little cheating brat!" The smirk on her face intensified, revealing a dark amusement.

"Garnt," she purred, a dangerous edge to her voice. Kali then stood up, her movements fluid and predatory. "let me talk to my beloved and you should stay away from us, that\'s all I want from you."
