Suppressing the Protagonist at the Start to Seize the Heroine

Chapter 94

Chapter 94

The female reporter interviewed him each time, and Su Lin’s witty responses became more audacious with each encounter. He finally understood why the big shots in his previous life enjoyed making bold statements – it was truly exhilarating.

On the last day of the Integrated Science exam, as Su Lin was submitting his paper early, Lin Tian, who was at a school in Donghai, was reborn.

Rubbing his sleepy eyes, Lin Tian gradually adjusted to his surroundings. He picked up the exam paper on his desk and read: ‘2002 National Integrated Science Exam Paper I’.

He rubbed his head, pondering the situation: “Wasn’t I supposed to be celebrating the IPO with my employees? How come I am suddenly back in the exam hall, and even during my high school years?”

“Dreaming? Or is it rebirth?” Lin Tian quickly realized he had been reborn, as everything around him felt incredibly real, and his eyes still ached from rubbing them too hard. “I can’t believe I, Lin Tian, have a chance to live again.”

Just as he was contemplating, Lin Tian suddenly remembered that today was the day his father died in a car accident in his previous life. His father, Lin Yourong, was coming from the Agricultural Bureau to pick him up and got rear-ended by a dump truck, crushing the car and killing him instantly.

In his previous life, Lin Tian was too young and naive to understand the intricacies behind the incident. But now, with years of business experience, he knew that accidents in this world were rarely coincidental – often, they were orchestrated.

He vaguely recalled that shortly after his father’s death, Su’s Construction’s projects smoothly resumed. Lin Tian couldn’t believe this was a mere coincidence.

“What to do, how can I prevent my dad from getting hit?” Lin Tian forced himself to stay calm, thanks to his years of experience in high-pressure business environments.

“My dad must already be on his way to the school. It’s too late to warn him in advance; I have to stop him midway. But how?” Lin Tian glanced at his completed exam paper.

Although he was a total playboy in his past life, his academic performance was still decent – he barely qualified for Donghai University but chose Donghai Finance University instead, taking a different path from his white moonlight, Zhao Yanyan.

Deciding to submit his paper early, Lin Tian thought of calling his father to either not come or take a different route – this was the only way to save his life. He immediately handed in his paper. The invigilator, noticing Lin Tian, thought he was giving up on the exam and allowed him to leave.

Once outside, Lin Tian hurried to find a phone booth to call his dad and tell him not to come. As he reached the school gate, he saw a crowd of people waiting outside, including some TV reporters.

Just as he exited, a reporter approached him for an interview, but Lin Tian, who didn’t want to be interviewed, quickly dodged and made his way through the crowd.

The parents waiting for their children were curious about the exam. They crowded around Lin Tian, asking, “How was the Integrated Science exam? Was it difficult?”

“Kid, don’t rush off, talk to us for a bit…”

“Young man…”

As Lin Tian was making his way through the crowd, suddenly a woman screamed, “Ah, my bag, my bag! There’s a thief!” The place went silent instantly.

As the parents of the students, all around the same age and familiar with each other from their days in school in Jiangning, were gathered, the sudden theft incident brought an eerie silence to the scene.

Lin Tian, momentarily stunned and unaware of such an occurrence in his previous life, realized he had to leave immediately to call his father and prevent the impending accident.

“Excuse me, please let me through,” Lin Tian urged, trying to make his way out.

“No one leaves, everyone stay put!” shouted the woman, as several acquaintances quickly blocked the exit. “Let the police handle this.”

In desperation, Lin Tian announced loudly, “I’m a student and I have an emergency at home. Can I go first? You can search me.”

The woman hesitated, then nodded. Lin Tian, relieved, emptied his pockets and placed everything on the ground.

After being cleared of suspicion, he dashed out of the crowd towards the nearest telephone booth. However, finding both positions occupied, he had no choice but to look for a convenience store, which would likely have a phone.

Unbeknownst to Lin Tian, from the moment of his rebirth, he had fallen into Su Lin’s trap. Su Lin wasn’t worried about Lin Tian discovering anything since no evidence could link back to Su Lin. Who would have guessed that Su Lin possessed foresight?

Lin Tian sprinted through the streets, his memory of his old neighborhood from over two decades ago blurry. By the time he managed to call his father, Lin Yourong, the line was dead, the phone ringing unanswered.

After several attempts, still no answer. Lin Tian knew if his father hadn’t been in an accident, he would have picked up, even while driving. The persistent dead tone indicated something terrible had happened.

“How… Why did this still happen? Why couldn’t it have been just a few minutes earlier, even one minute?” Lin Tian lamented. Suddenly, he realized, “Wait… one minute.”

Carefully recalling the events since leaving the school – the sudden appearance of a thief among the parents, the occupied telephone booths – Lin Tian sensed something was amiss.

“This is wrong. There’s definitely a problem here. My father’s death wasn’t an accident; it was a conspiracy!”

Rushing back to the telephone booth, Lin Tian realized he had been ensnared in a calculated scheme.

Meanwhile, Su Lin checked his watch, “Time’s up. Sorry, Lin Tian. Since we’re destined to be enemies, let your father’s death be inevitable.”

He had already planned how to manipulate Lin Tian. Delaying Lin Tian by just a few minutes ensured the accident.

In the original story, Lin Tian’s call made Lin Yourong stop the car just in time to avoid the truck. Su Lin’s interference altered the outcome drastically.

“There’s no crime here, just exploiting a loophole. But the end is just,” Su Lin rationalized, preparing for Lin Tian to eventually trace the incident back to Su’s Group and subsequently to Su Zhen Guo.

With this thought, any discomfort Su Lin felt vanished. “No grudges, only positions. You can only blame yourself for being the protagonist.”

On the other side, Lin Tian, having deduced the deliberate nature of his father’s death, vowed vengeance. “Whoever you are, I’ll find you and make you pay!”

Accustomed to the cutthroat business world, Lin Tian’s second chance at life seemed to have been crushed by this cruel twist of fate. The news of Lin Yourong’s fatal accident was bound to reach his family soon.
