I’ll Be the Male Leads Sister-in-Law

Chapter 232

The maid would most likely say that Mu Mingtang wanted to take care of the prince, so she would not be able to pay a visit to the Jiang family. Anyway, Xie Xuanchen was famously known for being ill, so Mu Mingtang had a ready-made reason to shirk her responsibility.

Although Mu Mingtang had sent her reply, she couldn’t calm down for a long time. Xie Xuanchen, who had witnessed the whole scene, sighed lightly and said while closing the book, “Are you in a bad mood?”

“No.” Mu Mingtang didn’t want to show her anger to Xie Xuanchen so she simply said, “It’s nothing. It’s just that I don’t feel comfortable hearing about people I hate.”

Speaking of the Jiang family, Mu Mingtang became angry again: “Where did they get the face to call themselves my parents? Before I got married, I cut off all my relationships with them. I even clearly said that I would not interfere with anything related to the Jiang family. So, how dare they ask me what dishes I like to eat and expect me to visit them on the second day of the New Year?”

Mu Mingtang felt disgusted when she remembered Jiang Honghao’s hypocritical tone and said bitterly: “I told them that I would marry whoever they wish in order to repay their kindness and not owe them anything in future. Now that the Jiang family got promoted and Jiang Mingwei had become a princess, they came over to pretend to be affectionate with me.”

Do they expect me to eat at the same table with them? In their dreams!

As Mu Mingtang talked, her hatred towards the Jiang family became vivid through her facial expressions. Xie Xuanchen looked at her face and felt uncomfortable in his heart.

“Okay, don’t be angry. If you don’t like them, just ignore them. If the presence of the Jiang family makes you angry, I will not let them step into the palace.” Xie Xuanchen said worriedly.

After hearing Xie Xuanchen’s words, Mu Mingtang calmed down a little and thought to herself, ‘No, I must control my anger. Since this is not the right time to offend the Jiang family, I must restrain myself for the sake of Xie Xuanchen. If my actions arouse the emperor’s suspicion, what will happen to Xie Xuanchen? Why should I cause trouble for him because of the shameless Jiang family?’

“No, it’s not necessary. We don’t need to take such a big action against them. The best revenge for people I hate is to outright ignore them. Well, I would personally love to ridicule them in person to the point that they become speechless. Come to think about it. If I don’t let them visit me in the future, how am I going to find an opportunity to do so?” She said to Xie Xuanchen.

Xie Xuanchen couldn’t help laughing. He looked at Mu Mingtang’s ‘fierce’ appearance and nodded with a smile: “Okay, it’s up to you.”

Although Mu Mingtang spoke crudely, her words were real and adorable. She clearly emphasised what she liked and what she hated. She was someone who lived happily and frankly.

Because of the Jiang Family’s incident just now, the awkwardness between Xie Xuanchen and Mu Mingtang eased a lot.

Mu Mingtang thought for a while and said angrily, “No, I’m still feeling uncomfortable. They have made me angry, so I want to make them angrier.”

“How?”

“Let’s go next door to wish them a Happy New Year.”

After her response, Mu Mingtang saw Xie Xuanchen giving her a meaningful look with raised eyebrows, so she quickly went to Xie Xuanchen’s side and held his wrist, “What I said was true. Aren’t you curious too? Yesterday, Xie Xuanji and Jiang Mingwei had a cold war, so I just want to see how they are doing today. That’s all. I don’t have any other thoughts.”

“No, I’m not curious.” Xie Xuanchen refused without thinking.

Xie Xunaji was Mu Mingtang’s former fiance. So, if Mu Mingtang visited her former fiance’s house on the first day of the New Year, Xie Xuanchen would be a bit uncomfortable.

Afraid that Xie Xuanchen would not believe her, Mu Mingtang walked around the table, squeezed beside him and said, “But I’m curious. I just want to watch the fun. Don’t think about any nonsense. I don’t have other thoughts or any feelings about him.”

Mu Mingtang gently shook Xie Xuanchen’s arm to persuade him to agree with her proposal, but he didn’t give her positive feedback, so she kept staring at him with a pitiful expression.

After a while, Xie Xuanchen couldn’t stand her pitiful expression and said with a sigh: “Okay, it’s up to you.”

“Your Highness!” Mu Mingtang’s face immediately brightened up with a smile. She smiled happily at Xie Xuanchen and hurriedly went to change her clothes. Xie Xuanchen looked at Mu Mingtang and sighed once again.

‘Why am I so soft-hearted?’ (Xie Xuanchen)

He was reluctant to agree with Mu Mingtang’s request because he cared about her. How could he willingly let Mu Mingtang see other men?
