Chapter 236 - Calamity
Chapter 236: Calamity
The fifth princess chuckled nervously, “When he comes, of course I have to receive him well. Be rest assured, Master. Do I look like someone who simply bullies people without differentiating between them?” The fifth princess smiled awkwardly as she tried to gain Ling Chuxi’s favor.
“You don’t look like such a person,” spat Ling Chuxi as she narrowed her eyes. Without waiting for the fifth princess to show off and respond, she added on, “You don’t look like such a person, because you are such a person.”
“Ah! Master, how can you talk about me like this? It’s making me so sad,” wailed the fifth princess. Then, she suddenly switched the topic, “By the way, Master, when are you free to enter the palace with me? My Imperial Father and Consort Mother wish to meet you.”
Without waiting for Ling Chuxi to speak, Fu Chengyu interrupted frostily.
“Don’t go. Don’t enter the palace.” Fu Chengyu’s face was cold and his tone was even colder. The way he looked at the fifth princess turned a little hostile. “Younger Imperial Sister, you should return to the palace now. The Emperor and Consort Li must be very worried about you.”
The atmosphere in the house froze as silence fell. Fu Chengyu was clearly chasing her out.
“Elder Imperial Brother, what do you mean by that? Why can’t I bring Master into the palace?!” asked the fifth princess angrily as she regained her senses. Her face flushed red with anger and her fist clenched.
“Why would you taint Chuxi by bringing her into that dirty place?” Fu Chengyu barked back angrily. He scoffed and slammed a hand onto the tea table strongly, then immediately stood up with a dark expression on his face and turned to leave without looking back.
The fifth princess stared in the direction in which Fu Chengyu’s figure was disappearing and then looked at Ling Chuxi at a lost. Suddenly, she started to cry as she turned around and ran out.
“Fu Huayi!” called out Ling Chuxi as she chased after her.
Ling Yichen sighed lightly and turned around in the other direction to look for Fu Chengyu. Luo Li was left alone in the main hall. He shrugged, sighed and then also left helplessly. Interactions between the royal family were indeed as such.
The fifth princess ran very fast, but Ling Chuxi who was chasing after her was also very quick. The fifth princess ran out onto the main street feeling incredibly wronged in her heart. She had just wished for Imperial Father and Consort Mother to meet her master. There were absolutely no other intentions. However, the words Ninth Imperial Brother had spoken so roughly to her were just like a knife pierced into her heart. Ling Chuxi grabbed the collar of the fifth princess’ dress and held her back.
“Let me go!” sobbed the fifth princess. She was crying so hard that snot and tears were flowing freely down her face.
“All right, already. Stop crying. You really are ugly to death when you cry!” said Ling Chuxi helplessly as she brought the fifth princess aside and dragged her to a small alley by the side of the road. “Why are you crying? Your Imperial Brother is the one who should be crying. You are a proud daughter of heaven. The emperor and Consort Li have protected you so well that you don’t even know the dangers and wickedness of people. Just take a look at your Imperial Brother. He is unloved by his father and does not even have a mother. He is not wrong to say that the palace is a dirty place. However, why don’t you take a look at your master? Will the palace taint me or will I bring calamity to the palace?”
After hearing Ling Chuxi’s words, the fifth princess raised her head to look at Ling Chuxi. She felt like crying and laughing all at the same time. Every single word of Ling Chuxi hit the nail on the head. Indeed, comparatively speaking, her Ninth Imperial Brother was very pitiful as opposed to her. Imperial Father did not like him and Imperial Brother’s consort mother, Consort Rong had also left this world a long time ago. It was normal that Ninth Imperial Brother deeply disliked the palace. Hearing all these things made the fifth princess feel so upset in her heart that she wanted to cry more. But when she heard Ling Chuxi’s last sentence about the palace tainting her or if she would bring calamity to the palace instead, she felt like laughing.
