Rex ignored the urge to distribute his stat points and quickly ran over to where Brenda was. She had passed out and her face was really pale. He quickly lifted her up and walked towards Magnus who was also unconscious on the ground.

"Thy friends are almost dead. Magnus art not too far from death either" Cronus said, his voice a bit sorrowful.

"I don’t have any healing powers and besides... quite a lot of time has passed now, I can only rescind their injuries by five seconds at most." Rex sighed. Just how much damage had that assassin done to these two? What were they doing in a secluded part of the school in the first place?

"I can help with that" A feminine voice, almost sounding like a whisper called out from behind.

Rex flinched. He recognized that voice. The voice that had resonated with him on the day he failed the awakening. He turned around and saw her. Her light green eyes stared at Magnus and Brenda with concern.

"Ly...Lyra?" Rex muttered out. It was none other than Lyra, the girl who had awakened the healing element. She was also an Orphan like him who had vowed that she wanted to find the cause of her Parent’s death.

"What’s wrong with them and who’s that man?" Lyra pointed at the assassin, her worried eyes staring at the three unconscious bodies like a guardian angel whose recipient got hurt. Her green eyes emitted a soft light like it could heal even the greatest wounds of a man’s heart.

"Lyra, this is complicated... but I don’t think I should coat it....." Rex sighed and then continued "That man" Rex pointed at Sunny "is an assassin who tried killing Brenda and Magnus"

Lyra’s face paled for a moment, and she pressed a hand to her mouth. "An assassin… at the academy? This is… worse than I imagined." She collected herself quickly, kneeling beside Magnus and Brenda, her gaze focused and intent. With a nod to herself, she extended her hands over Brenda first, a soft glow beginning to emanate from her palms.

A gentle green light, warm and soothing, flowed from Lyra’s hands, bathing Brenda’s body in a soft glow of energy. Slowly, color returned to Brenda’s cheeks, and the shallow rise and fall of her chest steadied. Lyra’s breathing grew labored, beads of sweat forming on her brow, but her determination remained unshaken.

"Brenda should be stable now," Lyra murmured, glancing at Rex quickly. "But Magnus… his injuries are deeper. He’ll need more than just basic healing."

"Wow... thanks Lyra...I don’t know what I would’ve done without you"

"Hmm....she’ll soon break through to the intermediate stage..... How many crystals has she eaten?" Rex murmured. He heard she was in the supporting department for those with supportive abilities like healing. Hmm.....Maybe they feed them a lot of crystals. sheesh... I haven’t even experienced the feeling of eating one. I wonder how it’ll be?

"Those crystals are of no use to you," Cronus remarked.

"Hmm? Really?" Rex asked.

"Yea, they are not!" Cronus replied.

Suddenly, Jefferson appeared in the midst of them with such intense speed that Rex barely registered the blur of motion. Before Rex or Lyra could even react, Jefferson swept them up with one arm and, with his other, gathered the unconscious bodies of Brenda and Magnus. His face was set with grim determination, his movements as smooth as they were blindingly fast.

"Hold on tight," Jefferson’s voice boomed, calm but urgent.

In the next heartbeat, they were outside, the academy’s deserted building shrinking into the distance as Jefferson’s speed left everything a blur around them. Just as the world snapped back into focus, a deafening explosion echoed behind them, and the building erupted in a fiery blast.

Shards of glass and stone flew outward as the force of the explosion rattled the academy grounds, throwing up a cloud of dust and debris that billowed into the air like a dark omen.

Rex stumbled as Jefferson dropped him down, his brows furrowing in confusion "What the? What just happened?" Rex asked, looking confused.

Suddenly, he noticed Lyra looking in another direction, her eyes tearing up. Rex turned around following her gaze and was shocked at what he saw. Students were running around, confusion on their faces. Most of the academy’s buildings were in Ruins already.

"What...the....hell.....is going on!" Rex stuttered as his eyes widened in shock.

Jefferson’s expression turned cold as he spoke "I’ll make this short. These assassins are from the shadow guild! The number one assassin guild in the city. Their aim is something I am yet to understand even though I know it!"

"And what is that?" Rex asked.

"Destruction of the city! Why? I don’t understand yet but I will, if find their leader. For now, they plan on taking over all central forces of the city and the academy is just one of them" Jefferson spoke, his voice filled with rage

"That’s it! Just destroying the city for no goddamn reason? That’s...that’s...insane! Then what about Brenda and Seraphina...why were they targeted?" Rex asked.

"Didn’t you hear my explanation?! I said they plan on taking over all the central forces of the city! Including the noble households. They only took advantage of the feud between the two households and used it to their favor!"

"What?!" Rex and Lyra gasped in shock

"Things are gonna get out of hand and when I say out of hand, I mean it! But for now... Rex, come with me! We’ll have a lot to do!" Jefferson said

"What about these three?" Rex asked, pointing at the still-unconscious Magnus and Brenda. Right now, Lyra wasn’t strong enough to handle all this!"

"Don’t worry, I’ll take care of them!" Seraphina suddenly appeared, her voice cutting through the commotion all around.

Rex blinked at Seraphina, who appeared out of thin air with the kind of calm that said she probably did this all the time. "Uh... are you sure?" he stammered, still adjusting to her entrance. "They’re like... super unconscious."

Seraphina smirked slightly, rolling her eyes. "I know, Rex. I’m fully aware they’re ’super unconscious.’ And yes, I can handle it." Her gaze softened as she looked down at Magnus and Brenda, her hands already glowing with a faint blue light. "I’ve been training too, you know. I can keep them safe while you handle... whatever it is you’re handling."

Rex gave her an appreciative nod, though his mind was still swirling from everything happening at once. Between the shadow assassins, the destruction of the academy, and the threat against the entire city, he felt like he was caught in the eye of a tornado. And now, with Jefferson’s explanation still fresh in his mind, it was clear the chaos had only just begun.

Jefferson’s gaze remained fixed on Rex. "There’s no time to waste. Come."

Rex followed Jefferson through the rubble-strewn grounds, weaving between panicked students and teachers trying to get a handle on the situation. It was chaos everywhere, fires burning through the remains of classrooms, injured students sprawled across the courtyard, and in the distance, more explosions rocked the academy as the assassins continued their assault.

"Where are we going?" Rex asked, quickening his pace to keep up with Jefferson.

"We’re heading toward the central tower. If there’s any chance of stabilizing this situation, it’s there," Jefferson replied, his voice tense but controlled. "The tower holds emergency defenses. If we can activate them, it might give us a fighting chance to push back these assassins."

Rex clenched his fists, the weight of the situation pressing down on him. "So, we just need to get there, hit a button, and everything goes back to normal?"

Jefferson gave him a sharp look. "It’s not that simple. If these assassins are from the Shadow Guild, they’ll have anticipated this. They may have infiltrated the tower, or worse, disabled its defenses already. We’ll have to fight our way through, and that’s assuming we’re not too late."

Cronus’s voice echoed in Rex’s mind. "Thou hast chosen quite the battleground, Harbinger. Ready thyself for the bloodshed that awaits."

Rex ignored the ominous tone in Cronus’s words, focusing instead on the task at hand. I’ve trained for this. I can handle it. I have to.

"Any other thing to note down?," Rex asked as they hurried away.

"Yes" Jefferson replied.

"Really, what’s that?" Rex asked

"Don’t die on me!"
